Ugh, this got expensive fast. $225 spent so far and still need to buy a filter and sand. Possibly some aquatic plants. :( Probably going to be $400 after all is said and done.

The MVB i use doesn't have to be replaced every year, but every 18 months. and it doesn't drop as much UVB as other UVB lamps and MVB. Here is the link:

and $225? Thats nothing! i spend over $550 to get my turtle set up in her current 50g tank with an xp2 and that includes lamps, sand, basking area, accessories :) many people here have spent over $1000!

$400 is quite a good chunk though when you have no steady income.

Only good news, is that the site I am ordering from doesn't charge tax in NY like others. :D

BTW, can anyone recommend real/fake plants that my turtle won't try to eat? My tank is going to look pretty empty so I figure I will be putting in a fake log for it to hide in and then some plants in there.

Fake plants could be eaten too. Depending on the turtle, you might have to rethink what you need to put in there.

Got a decent deal on a filter. $114 shipped for a Fluval 404, could be worse. :P

Anyways, I am pretty much complete! Now I just wait for everything to come in and pick up some sand and plants.
