Habitat - Indoor :: Best/Safest UVB bulb?

So i was reading that article about certain UVB bulbs making reptile's eyes swell up and was wondering what is the best brand of UVB bulbs that dont cause this problem? Also do you have to do like a 100 hour burn-in period before you use it with your turtle? Im looking for a regular one to buy....not one of those long bulbs that go in hoods. If people can post what they have and maybe a picture or link (to Petsmart or Petco) of the box that it comes in i would appretiate it. Thanks.

I've heard of burn it times. However I'm on my second Zoomed 26W UVB (coil style) bulb. Never did any burn in time with mine and it works great. Mine is aprox. 11" from their basking area.

alot of people here use the exo terra 26W bulb thats 5% UVB with no problems

Whatever kind you get, follow the instructions that come with it carefully. Putting it too close will cause problems regardless of what bulb you choose.

ReptiGlo is more commonly used and seems to create less problems. ReptiSun is fine if you have no other options. ReptiSun might need to be a little further away?

As for burn in times, I just researched this for another questioner, and the general idea that I get is for the first 100 hours, you want the bulb to be an additional 2 inches or so away. After that time, you can move it to it's normal location. ReptiSun calls for 150 hours for the burn in time. And remember that you should change the bulb every 6-8 months, even though it isn't burned out.

So with the Reptiglo i still have to use a UVA bulb right? Because alot of the UVB bulbs say they have 30% UVA rays along with either 5% or 10% UVB. Here's the UVA light i've been using but mine is 100watts. This and the Reptiglo should be good right?

Should be OK, but you don't need a special bulb for UVA/Heat. I personally like splash-proof halogens. They give off a lot of heat and a nice warm color.
