Habitat - Indoor :: try using a laser dot to play with your RES!

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

After a couple years of "torturing" my JRT with a laser beam, and laughing hysterically. I thought "why not try it on the RES". and guess what. Sebastian chased after the laser pointer almost just like my dog! it was hillarious! Plus great excercise making him chase it all around the tank!

Let me know if anyone else does this with their RES'!

LOL!

This is an amazing idea.

Just be careful not to shine the laser in their eyes... It can blind people and animals, I believe.

I think it would take a very strong laser pointer pointing directly into the pupil for an extreme amount of time to do any sort of damage.

I play with Bubble with a laser pointer from time to time.

Remember that when the laser hits the water, it will change at an angle. You may not think you are hitting their eyes, but you are. We had a discussion about this on the board a few months ago, and it was ultimately decided that we don't recommend it. If you are going to continue using it, you need to be extra cautious. Though I really doubt your turtle is "playing" with it like a cat does.

Why for any reason would you think that you are part of it?

He posted links to other discussions of laser pointers, and people agreed that its not a great idea.

I would suggest that you do not do it. The eyes are a real issue. The damage may be slow and you may not realize it until it is too late. m
