I think the bubbles are just air escaping from the little pockets that were formed during the fill up. They definitely aren't harmful and you can wipe them off.

He's definitely too young to determine sex, but, his nails are pretty wicked for a baby that size. Keep an eye on his nails, and if you notice them getting any longer, than you probably have a boy. If they stay the same length and just thicken up as he grows, you probably have a girl.

well my 3 inch has the same nails. but the bubble problem doesnt really bother. if you dont scrub the tank after you refill it with soap the bubbles get stuck. every time i wash the inside the tank with soap and rinse it off it slides the bubbles from the glass so they dont appear. if you dont want bubbles, wash the tank with soap and rinse it out. you dont have to do it but it prevents the glass from getting bubbly

I have these kind of sponges that you would use in a canister filter, and I rub that on the side of the tank and it wipes them right off.

If you do wash it with soap, make sure you rinse it really well so that there isn't any film left.

i scrub it off pretty well. i get the walls on the inside really soapy and it runs off to the bottom. once the whole tank is rinsed, i just dump out the soap and refill

Yeah but how small is your tank? If you have a small tank it would be easy but with a large one it would be harder.

yeah i have a 56 gal. and well it is pretty hard. if you have a small tank that can fit in a tub, then its pretty quick. my 5 gallon could fit in my tub and all i had to do was run the water and scrub the tank top to bottom and i was done. but with the 56 gal. im using now i have to go back and froth from the bathroom and it makes a mess and wets my floor to the max which i hate cleaning after wards. so far my record of slips was 5 out of 7 tank cleanings. so ill admit its hard

I would just do what you've been doing and if you don't like the bubbles just wipe them off after you fill it up.
