I don't really know why you would wait, if you are going to get a 50 gallon storage container, just head to WalMart and get one... they are $10 or LESS... I have seen some for like $5 when they are on sale. I know you are only 14 but I think you probably have $10 laying around and could get your parents to take you to WalMart. Your turtle will thank you!

Yeah, I will get one when I need it, because right now I want him to stay in the 10 gallon as long as possible,because I like the way it looks. Also, I don't know if my filter will work with it, what I'm wanting to know is what is the cheapest filter I can get, I'm going to put the 20 gallon filter in the 75, and add a filter that pump 275 gph so in total I'll have 375 gph in the tank, I don't care if it's a canister or not I just want the cheapest one.

PcBuilder, I don't feel like laying into you for that statement, but "I like the way it looks" is not a good reason to damage your turtle's health. Honestly, if I had a kid who was 14 and had a turtle and presented me with this forum and information that he needed a better tank, I would make a deal with my kid that I would buy them the new tank now, and they would do extra chores for me until it was paid off. Even when I was 14, I had a small savings for a rainy day built up from chores. Offer to help out more, offer to mow the lawn, walk the dogs, do the dishes, clean the house. Parents love to see that their kid researched his pet and is willing to work his butt off for his pet.

That's what sucks. I do that stuff anyways without pay, because I'm expected to do it. What I'll do is, once he gets about 2-3 inches I'll buy a 50 gallon rubbermaid, $17. How would I get my 20 gallon filter to work in that?

What type of filter is it?
Internal?
Canister?

Hang-on. What I might do is save my money up and by the end of this year I'll probably have about $150 and then buy a good canister filter and the 50 gallon container so I'll already have the filter for the tank.

Well, what you could do then, is cut a slot large enough for the filter, and deep enough, so that you could put the filter on the container a couple inches away from the water line, rather than a long distance. I hope that makes sense.

It did, he had two though.

I'm not too sure on the fill level of a rubbermaid, I'll let someone who has used one for turtles before chime in on that, but I do know you are supposed to check for leaks frequently and brace the sides since they are not built to hold water.

Yeah. I knew that to, what I might do is make a frame that looks like a bathtub frame and make one for it.
