Habitat - Indoor :: What do i need for First Time Using An Aquarium?

[/b] Hi,evening everyone!Im planning to buy an aquarium for my RES and wondering what do i need to put on the aquarium and so on?Whats else do i need for basking,plants,decoration,and stones?Just help me to name all the thing whc is require for my RES aquarium?

p/s: By the way,i have 4 RES,the 1st-5inches,2nd-5inches,3rd-5inches,4th-6inches.I've been taking care of them almost 3yrs now.I used to use container for them but lately i am wondering to have an aquarium that i can put at outdoor..next to my gazebo.

Well, current you would need 5 + 5 + 5 + 6 = 21 x 10 gallons = 210 gallon tank for all four of them. Eventually, you may need as large as a 480 gallon tank ... The downfall to having multiple turtles.

So, you are going to need a massive POND, not a tank, at this point. Since you are talking about an outdoor tank near your gazebo, you should be able to easily put in a standard pond outside and have them live their. You are in KL, I'm going to guess Kuala Lumpur? Looks like you guys stay a constant 90 degrees year round, so you won't need a water heater. You would need some type of basking area, if you have a pond you could probably use a large limb from a tree. You wouldn't need lighting, but you would need to provide shade, approximately 1/3 - 1/2 of the pond should be shaded so they can cool down.

Look into constructing a pond, they make these plastic pond preformed things that you just dig out the ground and stick them in. I don't know if they are available there, but check with a landscaper and see if they have any ideas.

...I've been taking care of them since they were babies..but the weird is,the smallest eating foods 2x more than them as i feed them separately.

Outdoors an aquarium's construction isn't really made for. You could certainly make your own pond, I believe the basics are you dig a hole and put in a plastic, almost garbage bag like liner. You'd need some help on how to make a pond, but it shouldn't be too hard. You might even find a local landscaper that can help out. The glass aquarium outdoors won't be very safe, all it would take is something to run into it and crash, no more aquarium. Also, I don't know if they make aquariums that large and as they get bigger, they get much more expensive.

I'd bet a really cool idea would be to set up a pond in the style of a moat (like they used to put around castles, google it) around the gazebo. That way, the turtles could swim around and you would always have a good view!

P.S. The container in your avatar is too small for them and you want to get them away from those small rocks as soon as possible. They are just the right size for them to eat them and if they swallow them and the rock gets stuck, it's pretty much always fatal.
