The vet put some lubricant on it and used forceps to grab it and slowly worked it loose.

dude do plecos really clean up algae? the few that i've bought i've only seen them stick around the clean parts of the glass and there is still lots of algae on the corners. also the algae build-up in between the silicone on the sides (the silicone doesnt stick to the glass; there's a space in between where algae build up in my aquariums) cant be cleaned by the plecos.

How would snails do? We have one that had crawled into a bag of java moss we bought. It is so small I dont think it does much of anything but maybe a larger one? Do turtles eat snails?

Oh yes, turtles love to eat snails. My turtle is on constant snail patrol!

I have a snail in my tank to help clean it and he hasn't even touched it, he ignores it.
