Please do not double post. I'm removing your other post--anyone who wants to respond can do so here.
I had asked you in the other thread if the plastic itself was bumpy. Stealth heaters are supposed to have an automatic shut-off in case for some reason the heater is taken out of the water (but always unplug it bfore doing so). I don't quite understand how the heater could be swelling...
Is it warm where you are today (if you're in NY, I think is probably is)? If so, is a heater needed in the tank? If the water temp is warm enough without the heater, you could take it out. If you think something's wrong with the heater, you could test it in another container of water.
