Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I have a fitler for my 50 gal tank. It works ok, and was "recommended" by the pet store guy, but I am just not sure if it is enough. Water quality goes down in about one week. I don't have much more info on the filter than it is submersable. Am I paranoid, would a second smaller one help.
Suggestions please.

For a 50g I would recommend a canister filter of some sort. I'm sure others can give you good brands to buy. I have a Fluval canister for each of my 55g tanks and the water stays crystal clear. I do a 90-100% water change about every 4-6 weeks and that's it.

Generally, pet store employees don't know much about turtles or their habitats.
I agree, a canister filter would be great. Something like a Fluval 405 or Rena XP3 would be good, because it would provide ample filtration for your 50 gal, and in the future if you upgrade you wouldn't have to buy a new filter :)
