Check out Curtis on his new basking rock! I think he likes it!

He has a few chinese algea eaters and a new mystery snail he's been snapping at. The snails name is Gary so hopefully he'll not become a meal for Curtis. I think our boy is quite happy in his little habitat!

Aww, he looks like a happy little guy! Do you know where the snail came from? If it came from an aquatic plant that you put in there, watch out, they can reproduce like crazy. The turtle will eventually eat the snails, but not as quickly as they'll show up!

Our Curtis IS a happy boy! The snail is called an "apple snail" and there is only one. Apparently apple snails aren't the typical snail, and having just one there won't be any others. We'll see about that theory soon enough. Curtis seems to like Gary, the snail, and we think he wants to have him over for lunch. We'll see how long he lasts!

I have had apple snails with my goldfish. They don't breed like those little ones that come in the plants. Those things can reproduce asexually by budding! But the apple snails lay eggs at the water line that you can just remove if you don't want any more snails. I like apple snails, but watch out, they will climb right out of the tank! I have a hood on my goldfish tank and the snail climbed up the filter uptake and fell off behind the stand!
