So my turtle tank water is low. There is a label on the tank that says "If filled more than halfway may cause top to warp."

Its for TURTLES! Should I listen.

is it a turtle tank with one side cut for the filter or is it an actual aquarium? Could you post pics?

Lol, those darn turtle tanks!
Sounds like it's time to be on the lookout for a new tank :)
Well, I suppose for a complete newbie, a turtle tank is better than a turtle death bowl...

Thankfully I found this board before my husband tried to talk me into a turtle tank. If it is actually called a turtle tank, if you fill it too much, it could explode. I'd look for a good aquarium now.

I also fell for the "turtle tank" scam. I got rid of that tank as soon as I could once I found this site and realized what a stupid idea a turtle tank is. I don't know who came up with that idea but they should be publicly flogged.

Those turtle tanks are designed for mostly-land turtles with a little bathing area, but the ever-evil marketing department felt like excluding aquatic turtles' needs. Pure evil for exploiting newbies.

The tank you have isn't for aquatic turtles. You need a regular aquarium that can be filled almost to the top.

Why do they even make tanks like that? It seems like they would make more money making a REAL turtle tank that people actually buy. (and not by mistake by not knowing)

Turtlefriend - They make them to MAKE lots of money.
They use thinner glass than a standard aquarium, so it's cheaper to make, yet they charge more for it in the petstores.

Because places like Petco can charge a lot of money and the average person who doesn't find this website will never know any better. I found this in my weekly circular:
PetCo

If it doesn't show up, look up your zip code, I bet it was in all of the weekly circulars this week. It's an "aquatic turtle kit", with like 4 inches of water in the tank ...[/url]

@Steve: I can't believe that! A well respected site like that and they say that an 8-inch turtle needs a 20 gallon tank! Blasphemy!

I did the same thing when I got my first tank.

Dumb thing. Couldn't fill it up all the way. Ended up giving it to a friend who's turtle was living in smaller!
