whoa wait, you can clean your tank too much? what should the tank look like to clean it? are we talking off-green or slimy and brown? i have a 33 gal which i have half filled, and replace 80% of the water every week and then clean it all every two. is that too much?

If the water parameters are safe, ie 0 ammonia and nitrites, and nitrates are under 40 ppm then there really is no need for a water change.

R-Girl -- You may have to keep cleaning it until you get a larger tank as the one you have is too small. Make sure that you get a filter large enough when you up size. You will want to make sure that it will pump at least 5 times the water volume that you have in the tank. Good Luck !!
