EVERYONE PLEASE POST UR HOMEADE BASKIN AREA
This costs 30.00 to make. And all day for me to make. I have enough materials to make about four more tho. I used pvc pipe,gavinized mesh fence for the top box glued down to the tank. The material around the basking area is pet safe. Had to special order it! I love this new basking area and more importantly Jim myrtle stays up there for hours everyday! The box
only has three walls..... So his uvb and heat can get thru easier.

Here's mine:

It's just corkbark cut to the width of the tank, and i built the glass surround for the top of the tank so that i could fill it up all the way without risking escape.

How did you build that glass surround? Did you cut it yourself and siliconed it together?

Yeah, i do some stained glass work, so i have a grinder and class cutter laying around. A glass cutter is cheap ($5 or so) and easy to use, but if you don't have something to grind the edges a bit you'd want to cover them somehow, as they can be really sharp. I used aquarium silicone to stick it together, with the help of some corner clamps and tape to hold it in place while it dried. The whole project took an afternoon and it only cost me about $15 since i had a lot of the stuff already. It's been a big hit with Turtley, he's a lot more bold when he's basking now.
