alrighty, so my old middle school teacher quit due to illness.
she had many animals...&& needed to get rid of them so she left me with one red eared slider.

i dont know much about where he used to be or anything.

he was given to me with a tank, a floating dock, a rock && a 2 oz. bottle of reptomin floating food sticks.

he/she idk? is about 6 inches from head to tail.

he was barely ewating the pellets so i went and got him a dozen guppies and put them in the tank.
he has eaten all but 4 in the last 2 weeks.

he stays under the floating dock and never comes up from the water.

help would be nice!

You need to get basking Lights to encourage him to get out. So you need a UVA light for heat, and a UVB Light. So you will need 2 clamp lamps and a 75 watt incandescent bulb along with a Reptile specific 26 watt 5.0 UVB Bulb (Compact Fluorescent. You also need a water heater, that is big enough to hold the water at 78 degrees.

How big is the tank? Do you have that lighting? and the water heater?

You need a lot more water and a lot bigger tank than a 10 gallon. You should try to find yourself a 55 gallon tank and everything else I have mentioned. It looks like I forgot about filtration also. You need a filter that can filter 3 times as much water as you have int he tank a hour. So if you have a 55 gallon tank you need a filter that is built for 165 gallons, so something like a Rena XP3 would be perfect.

There's no need to double post. I'm locking this thread. Any replies can be made to the topic in general care.
