is it better to tank them out of the tank? will it keep it cleaner?
they are bigger than the turtles head and im positive they cant get there motuh around it so its safe... for now

They do trap debris which compromises the water quality.
But the other issue is that they chip easily leaving little glass shards in the tank, which is quite hazardous.

I would take them out, since i removed my rocks i think my water quality has increased even visibly. Plus like meg mentioned those run the risk of breaking.

Great looking turles you have, do i count 4 in that picture?

I just use a big bag of natural rocks from the garden section at walmart...you just have to wash them off.

I use them to make less water in certain areas.

I have those in both of my tanks but not as many. I just sort of scatter them around so they don't cover the entire bottom, it traps less debris that way and the turtles like to move them around.

There are more of the glass beads in there and more colors but it is still scattered the same way.
