Habitat - Indoor :: Cruel or Comforting? Turtle Ornaments

Been browsing big al's for the past hour or so (yeah I'm that bored) and I came across some nice looking ornaments. Anyone ever bought something like this and placed it in their turtle tank? Here's a link to the one I am eying.

As you can see it's an automated turtle! While I know RES' are aggressive tword other turtles, how about a fake turtle? I'd like to hear some thoughts before I buy it. I'm getting some filter media that I can't find around town and I want to make my shipping fee worth while.

I have a turtle figurine in my tank. I bought it because it's hollow underneath and I was hoping minnows could hide in it and thus prolong their stay in Leo's tank. I had no such luck haha.
As for Leo's response to it, when it first appeared in her tank she hated it, but I don't think it's because she identified it as a turtle, it was just something new and she didn't know what to make of it. Now, she just ignores it... so I don't really think it's affected her at all.
Perhaps male turtles would be different because they seem to bond more with their tank objects like rocks and whatnot.

When my RES was much smaller than he is now, I tried putting a fake floating turtle in his tank and, after some initial fear (and a little curiosity), he totally ignored it. I once had another RES that had a fake turtle in his tank and he treated it like a rock and would sleep on it. If you get one, I think it probably will be more for your enjoyment than your turtle's.

I put a fake turtle in my tank. My turtles attacked it for a while but soon got bored and never even had any contact with it again. You should get it.

I had a fake alligator in Spot's tank and he was fascinated with it. He'd flutter it all day long. The alligator was made of plaster and had a hole in the bottom to make it lighter and one day Spot got his head and front feet stuck in the hole and nearly drowned. So I had to take the little alligator away. Spot then turned his attentions to a pretty rock in the tank and fluttered it all day long.

Roca (Tenodera's turtle) was in love with a turtle figurine so I think it just depends on that turtle. But that bubbler is gorgeous! I also need some new filter media and have been putting it off for the shipping fees and now I am thinking getting this

I know they love bubble toys thats for sure... i tossed a treasure chest and Skull that open every few minutes... the Male insist that the skull stays closed and runs over and shuts it when he sees it pop open... so its a nice thing to keep them busy... he will also follow the bubbles to the top...

just be prepared to fix it everyday, they move there stuff around worse than kids...
