ok the water in my turtle tank gets cloudy and stinky pretty quickly, i would say about a week or less after i change the water..it also gets kinda green but i think its from their poop because their food is green. theres never any leftover food floating around b/c they eat it all. i have a fluval 3 filter for a 29 gallon tank that's about 3/4 full..and 78 degree water all the time.....what is causing the horrible stink and how can i stop it from happening??? someone please help my mom hates the smell!

Well, first of all the tank shouldn't smell. When it smells it either means the filter isn't adequate or the tank is too small for the turtle(s) or the water isn't being changed often enough - or all three!

Your tank is 29 gallons. How big is your turtle(s)?

Slo-mo -- Marcia-Mod is correct! How large is your turtle and how much and how often are feeding him?
The guide I follow is to make 50% water changes until it clear up. It may take every day, every other day, and every three days until it clears up. If something is out of whack you can work yourself into frenzy.

You mentioned about a month ago that your turts were 3-4 inches each...is that right? If so, the tank you have them in is too small for one much less 2. You need to upgrade the tank or seperate them & get a better filter. That's about the only thing that will really help the water clear up (though daily water changes will help meanwhile...)
