Habitat - Indoor :: Storage Bins and Suction Cups.

It seems as though I'm acquiring a second RES tomorrow... I was and am completely fine with Leo being an "only turtle" but this little gal really needs a home and some TLC... so I've set up a temporary tank in a rubbermaid storage bin that I just bought.
How do you get suction cups to stick to it? I cannot for the life of me seem to get the basking area and heater to attach.... I'm thinking I may just buy some aquarium silicone and silicone the sucker cups right on the side... but then I thought with the basking perch that would be too much stress on the sides.
So I may just improvise a basking area that is free standing, but I'm still at a loss for how to attach the heater without it coming off or burning the rubbermaid.

If you're using a Stealth heater (and most other heaters), you can skip the suction cups. I can't help you with the ZooMed dock... but I used this ESU platform back when I used a plastic tank...

Ok, then I'll just pick up a heater guard and let the heater be.

If you go with the Stealth, I'd skip the guard too

If you're just going to let the heater rest on the bottom of a Rubbermaid storage bin, I'd use a guard just to be safe...

Try different areas of the tubberware tub too...for some reason I couldn't get the suction cups to stick on 2 of the sides of Jimi's old tub, but they worked just fine on the other sides.

I don't know if you want to go through all this work for something that is temporary, but I just love this idea for a basking log. I am going to do this for my little 60 gal pond for the spring.

Terryo- That's a really nice looking one, I think I may enlist my boyfriend to help make one...
For now I've attached Leo's old suction cup dock to a small crate that is weighted down with rocks to keep it from shifting. Since the new guy can swim into the crate it doesn't take away much swimming space which I like. He hasn't tried basking (or eating) yet so we'll see how functional the dock proves to be...

As for other areas of the tupperware, I can't get the suction cups to work on any of the sides, crappy things.

I gave up on getting the suction cups to work on my rubbermaid they just pop off after a few hours. So I used some cable clips and double sided tape to replace them.
