Some people do put pleco's with there turtles I was going to do it but chose not too because of the threat of them being eaten but some people have luck with them not being there turtles dinner.

It depends on whether your turtle is a fish eater or not a fish eater

You need to get one that is faster than your turtle. I have a rubbermouth pleco that is extremely fast and the turtles have completely lost interest since they cannot catch him. And you also have to make sure it has somewhere to go that the turtles cannot go. Mine likes to sit underneat of the bubble stick or behind the filter.

I've had plecos in w/ my turtles ever since I've had them without problems - same plecos you have shown in the picture.

BUT...I'd worry about putting a pleco in with a turtle like you say that "bites anything". Sounds like he WILL go after the pleco and cause a slow painful death by biting.

One suggestion - I put a baby (3"?) pleco in with our baby turtle. He went after it right away. I removed the pleco after less than 10 minutes.
I tried with a bigger pleco (8"?) and the turtle hasn't attacked him yet. Acts like he's afraid of the pleco. That could change though, so be careful & watch close if you try.

When buying fish, pleco's included....I always buy about twice as many as I actually want. Some are smart and hide well, and some aren't and get eaten. I usually end up with about the right number of the living as I wanted. The turtles give up trying to catch them.

I have two pleco's and a snail in with my res and they don't seem to bother them much. if i put feeder fish in there there gone in about half hour.

I just searched rubbermouth pleco and one site says it is also called a bulldog pleco (Kevin you were right )

Mine has been changing colors so I am beginning to think that they are able to camoflauge. They dont get bigger than 6 inches and they clean very well. They have an irridescant stomach that looks sort of metallic. Here is what mine looks like:

I just got one the other day and it died 2 days later! I dont know what happened. I felt so bad for it because my turtles bit off a part of its back fin. They were after it like crazY!

Cleaning fish seem slow, I don't much about them by any means, but i'm fairly certain my turtles could catch them easily.

I have 2 tinfoil barbs that my turtles don't even notice anymore.
