Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I went to the pet store today, to check out some UVA Lamps and heaters, but the petstore guy told me, all that I really need, is a basking platform, filter and the UVA lamp isn't really needed...He said a incandescent bulb should do fine and that I wont need a heater because my turtles have survived 10 years without a heater and have probably adapted. The temperature around my is house is 23 degrees - 24 degrees most of the time. Is it right? Should I just use a incandescent bulb? One more question, has anyone ever caught their RES eating the minnow's fish food?

You can use an incandescent light bulb for basking heat and UVA, but you will also absolutely need a UVB bulb. You should also have a water heater, and yes many have had their turts eat fish food.

At some point, your minnows will most likely become a snack for your turtles if you keep them together. Turtles will eat just about anything that's edible.

I have to feed my rosy reds when my turtle is asleep, otherwise the fish won't get a bite.
