Basially today i went to petsmart and I bought a 170 dollar aquarium stand and the guy offered to set it up for us(my parents) since the box was to heavy to carry up to my 3rd floor apartment BAD IDEA!! We get home bring it up stairs we just had to install the doors on it and sure enough the whole thing was put together wrong and theres nails through the what HE thought was the back and was supposed to be the front now Im stuck with this thing in my apt and cant carry it down by myself to even return it!! Petsmart is getting a nice call tomorrow and there coming to pick up this huge contraption!! Just a warning to everyone to make sure you put things together yourself!!

You would think an employee would know how to setup their own product... Hope everything gets fixed for you. Bring a friend or two that can help you carry it. If you read the instructions I'm sure you'll be able to do it. Good luck with it.

Personally, I would trust the Petsmart people too, luckily for the most part they're nice people and I know the employee didn't purposefully screw it up. When you call back make sure you ask nicely, the moment you start yelling at them, every human goes into defense mode. I hope that it all works out!

well the good part about having the guy set it up (even though its wrong) is its the companys fault that its setup wrong now. its not your fault, if you were to set it up and i guess read the directions wrong like this guy did you would be out the money. but now the company has to replace that for you.

thought you said they can come pick it up,, why would your parents have to drive to you and help take it back?

I always refuse to allow stores to install things I buy. Most have no idea what they're doing.

hmm, based on the poor advice from the average Petco employee, I wouldn't trust one of them to assemble anything. It's good that they're giving you a replacement though.

yeah i always assemble my own stuff, that way i know its done right, or in some cases wrong (in which case i a) use a lot of duct tape or b) make somethign that will make it work or c)more duct tape

well normally we do install and put together everything on our own but anyone that lives in a 3rd story apartment know u have to go up alot of stairs so id rather them put it together that way its easier to take up the stairs instead of an ackward huge heavy box... but i wont be doing that again
