i just got my new tank today as you can see here:

i'm going to divide the tank so my two turtles can live in it. but because im going to divide it, it's hard to come up with a basking area that can be shared by both of my turtles. i'm thinking having an area in the middle so both turtles can access the area and i don't have to make two basking area. anyone with examples or ideas are welcome. thanks.

DavidY did something like that. here's the thread with a description of his setup. There's a related thread where he asked us to brainstorm on ideas for the setup. I think brainstorming thread is referenced in the thread below:

also a problem with the material:
the wood they sell at home depot is too smooth. i mean those wood are for building and renovating houses and when i submerge them in water, the texture is too slippery. i've also tried to look for natural shapes near a lake but they are too disgusting.

What kind of tools do you have access to? If you have a saw (table saw would be best) you could cut 1/8 grooves in the ramp to allow the turtles claws to grip it. Also if you take a drill with a stiff wire wheel and run it across the wood it will create a rough surface that should provide enough grip providing the ramp is not too steep.
