Habitat - Indoor :: RES with other freshwater animals

Is it alright for a RES to share a habitat with lets say, guppies, long snake turtles etc .. in general of the same "kind" or small fishes and that they do not fight!

Any creature you put in the tank with the turtle will probably end up as one of his/her meals. Here's some info on live prey in a turtle tank:

Yep, you don't want guppies with RES(they're expencivesto end up on turtle mouth ), and if the snake is not bigger the your turtle ,it will be a good meal for RES, if the snake fits in the RES mouth will be gone some day
Only fishes bigger than REs MAY be ok, and if there faster than Turtle do,
I have some gold fishes with Donatello but they are about the same size of Donatello, and I have a friend who even has a cat fish with the turtles and they are ok, but all them are about the same or bigger size of the turtles,

RES's will attempt to eat anything that shows up in front of their face. So if you don't want the other aquatic animals to be eaten, then I would consider getting a separate tank for them!

Alright so it's all about the turtles eating things..but wouldn't a water snake injure the turtle????

Not a snake. A 'long snake turtle' in other words, snake neck turtles, yes they exist. They have realy long necks. But I dont think you should mix them in with RES, something tells me you shouldnt.

I know! I want one. I've been debating with myself whether to a reptile that is not a turtle, or another turtle, I have the space and money, if I do get another turtle, it's most likely one of these guys. Of course, i'll have a seperate setup for it.

I misread...apologies. But I wouldn't mix anything with a turtle except fish and snails which will probably get eaten...Other turtles, crabs, freshwater lobsters, etc. could lead to injuries.

To put another animal in with it, you would need to make sure the enviroment and temperature requirements are the same for both, but you could end up with an aggression problem and have to sepetate them.

I have had luck with some pleco's in my tank. They're fast little suckers and I've given them some really good hiding places. I don't get attached though, because sooner or later they will likely become a snack.

Like previously mentioned, fish are nothing but a meal to your turtle. Even if they are larger or faster than the RES, I wouldn't suggest trying to keep them in the same aquarium. It would put undue stress on both animals, causing the fish to probably die anyway.

What about freshwater crabs? they have a hard exo. Would that work?

No, the turtle will eat crabs too. I forget who, but someone posted a pciture of what happened to the crab in her turtle tank-- all that was left were the claws. Not only that, but before the crab does die it could possibly injure the turtle. The only live animals I add to my tank are the occasional feeder fish and sometimes ghost shrimp.

At the petstore the baby RES + MAP turtles are in with water dragons they are just babies though so.. '
