Help! My turtle hibernated outside fine all last winter. She is a wild turtle so I wanted to keep her outside. I have a pond for her and she hibernates in a leafy garden protected area. Is it okay for her to be awake? I am also in Texas where RES are native.

What part of Texas? There's a big difference in the climate from the Panhandle to the Valley!

Here are some threads with comments from a guy (oldturtle72) who seems to know a lot about outdoor turtles. Some of it's scary - conditions have to be just right for the turtles to survive hibernation:

In the south west. She got up and basked and went back and burrowed. It got up to 71 degrees today.
