I've already purchased a timed switch for his lights, but I would like some pointers on his feeding situation. My roommate will most likely be leaving for the holidays as well.

I'm thinking that if I just toss a lot of food in there, he'll just eat it all the first day. It takes him a while to get through lettuce, so I'll make sure to put some of that in, but I could be gone up to five days. I've seen dispensers for fish food. Could I use something like that for a turtle? I don't want the poor little guy to starve while I'm gone. He seems to have a growing appetite.

Unfortunately, my question wasn't really answered in that topic. Unless I am to take him with me, which would not be a good idea at all. I have a fairly large extended family, and won't be spending very much time in one place.

Also, I forgot to mention that this is for Christmas, not Thanksgiving, so I still have time to prepare.

Someone in an earlier thread mentioned an automatic feeder that dispensed food to some turtles over a holiday break. It may have been a device like the ones on here:

Is there a pet sitter in the area? Someone you'd trust to come in periodically for a small fee?

Not during the Christmas season.

I'm going to look at some food dispensers, but I hear that the opening isn't wide enough for turtle food.

If you find a food dispenser that works well for you, why don't you post it on here. I see lots of threads from people asking just this question.

though not ideal nor do i recommend this, turtles can live for a while without food, i kno that my turts chomp down anything that i put in but maybe yours will leave the lettuce so it could last a while?
