Do you ever have to clip a turltes nails? Especialy if he is a male and has a smooth habitat so they don't natually wear down? Mine is 3 years old and male. Is there a certine length I should be looking for?

You should never trim your turts nails. Even if you provide a smooth habitat that doesn't wear them down. There are arteries that run through the nail that you could accidently cut, and that is also the risk of infection. Just don't worry about it.

Male turtles have long nails; that's just the way they are. No need to ever cut them since they don't grow past a certain length.

Their long nails are a secondary sex characteristic and should be left alone. You should see how long my RES's nails are.
