I have a little girl (and a boy) that when I first set up their tank they wouldn't touch their basking spot. Started to get nervous about their need to dry off every so often.
I then cleaned entire tank out, fresh water, conditioned, all that good stuff, made sure of temps, they are all perfect.
Now in the beginning, they wouldn't touch the basking spot....now my little girl won't leave the basking spot....is it normal for a 5.5" female turtle to want to stay in her very dry basking spot all day long?
My boy bounces up there and back in water as normal. And she'll go back in the water when I turn off the lights.

Mostly normal, as long as their aren't any other signs/symptoms. They should both be pretty alert when up there too, though the occasional nap happens of course.
