Can anyone tell me if my turtle is growing too fast?
I got her 10/8/15 as a hatchling the size of a .50 cent piece.
I just see other people with turtles and they are like 2 years old and the same size as Dayna or slightly bigger/smaller.
Am I doing it right? Sorry for sounding naive or ignorant on this, I get nervous that I'm not being a good host to my turtle.

What size tank is she in? What Diameter in size do you think she is as well? I am not sure lolol how long the cichlid is either. Pardon me for laughing, it is late at night now and you have sure gave me a brain teaser after having a few wine coolers trying to relax a bit prior to going to bed. My albinos are about the same age as yours though and you got me good on the teaser in your first photo where you stated " when I got her. 10/8/16 ". Then I scrolled up and read the actual date at the start of the thread JUST IN CASE lol and read " 10/8/15 as a hatchling ". You do realize that Steve and turtle girl will pick on me now over this right? I feel that they may pick on me by posting brain teasers on evenings like this where I may have a drink or two thanks to your post .

I laughed at myself being it took me several minutes to figure it out being tipsy lol. That is not like me so you got me good scratching my head lol. Well I think your turtle is okay being that mine are similar sizes and I seen many 6 month olds in the 3 inch category. Keep in mind that enclosure sizes, feeding schedule and lighting plays a big part of each turtles life. As far as I am concern, he is the right size for his age where other turtles you mention may not have the 4 things mentioned during this time.

What kind of set up do you have for your turts? are they together like in the thumbnail photo?

These three are together right now for another 3 months anyhow until I feel the two albinos are about 3 1/2 to 4 inches before I have them in their medium sized waterland tub outside. The three here is the male and female albino red ear sliders and the hybino red ear slider (unknown sex yet. They are in a seventy five gallon tank inside, UVB and UVA lighting , canister filtration system , and floating dock and drift wood. A pretty simple set up similar to yours yet looks attractive.and like you, I keep some fish in there, fancy tail guppies, red tail shark, some golden snails just to control some of the debris that goes to the bottom and control algae control naturally. I know the fish are a bit expensive for feeder fish anyways but I did not want to buy cheap feeder fish since a lot of them have fish diseases before a person gets them and less looked after by the producers , wholesalers and even the pet shops. By doing this, it is a extra piece of mind for my turtles that they do not get fish diseases is all. My hybino is the only one that I seen inside that actually managed to grab one of baby fancy tail guppies . For the most part believe it or not, these little ones have very little interest in chasing or eating the fish and happy on there scheduled daily feedings during their simulated day time hours.

Then I have my huge hypo red ear slider female and I have another large normal adult that I think the previous owner missexed that one and I need to sex it myself yet. It is to big to be a male and I assume a female. They are both huge and my other female hypo is posted on the other thread. She is gorgeous. The normal, I am waiting for a friend to come over that has a permit for normal red ear sliders as normal's are illegal here unfortunately however so I am sort of speak babysitting it at the moment. It is a rescue and I want to make sure it can go to someone legally and someone of course with experience. The two large red ear sliders are in a natural set up in a large waterland tub with a canister filtration system in both a shaded area and they receive natural uvb and uva which they enjoy The albinos will be outside to soon but in a bit more shaded area of course in their own waterland tub. By that time, the Daytona show will be here and more than likely I will be getting a few more small turtle morphs to raise in the seventy five gallon with the hybino. So yes the three small ones I have now are together and my two big ones are together outside too. I am one of the fortunate turtle keepers that have not had dominance, aggressive or territorial issues as of yet and I am keeping my fingers crossed on that. If any one of them does, of course it would be instant separation with not wanting any of them hurt.

How much are you feeding her? When in doubt, feed less.

Well there is always a leaf inside her tank to nibble on, if it gets gross and slimy before its the stock I will replace it with a fresh leaf. So she gets greens every day and a Zoo Medtrade; Growth Formula Natural Aquatic Turtle Food pellet. Should I stop giving her the pellet?

How much are you giving her?

a pellet a day in the morning and whatever lettuce she nibbles on.

It doesn't seem too much... can it be possible someone is sneaking extra food to her?
