Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Im sorry if this is a repeat topic, but I couldn't find much info... My res is about 7yrs now and roughly 9". I've had her since she was a baby. I'm wondering when she will lay eggs? She's never shown any typical signs of being gravid that I can recall.. do some females just never lay? Or is that just a myth I've heard? Is there a typical age they start to lay around or does it vary greatly from turtle to turtle? I didn't really think about her laying eggs until recently. After reading about all the issues they can have if they don't have a nesting spot I'm a little nervous and antsy to build her one ASAP.

My female is just three, so hopefully, I have a long time.

I did lots of research and asked quite a bit here once I realized I had a female. Apparently, some really never do become gravid. At her age and size, you may be one of the lucky ones. I've read four or five years old or 5" to 6" inches for some of the earliest.

That would be too easy if she never goes gravid! And from my life experience, anything that seems too good to be true, is! Haha it would be really nice and convenient though :D

A gravid RES is very nerve racking for the keeper. However, it was amazing to watch her make a nest and lay eggs.
