General Care Discussion :: Mineral deposits??

Hi all!! So one of my turts has some white areas on his shell. I'm thinking mineral deposits after researching through topics on here and a couple other sites. Also there is some minor hard water issues here.
180 gal tank for 2 RES almost 2 years old with about 100 gal of water.
Running the FX6
Water temp 76
Basking temp 92
Diet is mostly red and green leaf lettace with some other veg mixed in occasionally. 4-5 pellets every 2nd day and either freeze dried gammarus or bloodworms once or twice a week. Cuttlebone about 2 times each week 3-4 bite size chunks each time.
I can rub some of the "white" off with a toothbrush. The shell was nice and bright after the shed, but It has since returned.
I read peat moss may help with hard water, but may also tea color the water. Let me know what u guys think. Thanks!!

That looks more like fungus, to me. Which is odd, since your setup sounds great. Hopefully somebody else will chime in soon--hopefully, they'll prove me wrong!

Thanks for the clear picture. This is a good example of fungus (and some algae). Are Squirt & Scooter kept together?

I've gotten the algae under control in the last few months. Im forcing air into the water with the water discharge from the the filter. Seems to be a lot better. The fungus hasn't seemed to transfer to scooter from squirt however

Are they basking enough? As typical in these cases, the fungus is mostly on the outer scute and will take hold once there is a fresh layer available.

They bask a few hours each day. More if I'm not around as when the see me they equate that with food. They don't get off the platform for others like they do me. I'm in the process of making the platform larger as well. That way they can both get to the "hot spot."
