Critque and Check up for "Frog" the RES and his home

Hello everyone. After meaning to for a long time, I wanted to start a thread for Frog the turtle, and give everyone a chance to check out her tank and critique anything you see. Also there are several pictures of Frog herself. I have read quite a lot on care and health, but wanted to see if many more eyes could find a chink in the armor.

Frog was "acquired" along with many siblings as a hatchling from the folks at the country fair, by the handful one night about 3 years ago. Currently his is in a 30g tank with heat lamp, and UVA/UVB hood bulb. I keep the water clean with 2-3 50% water changes a month and a filter rated for a 60g tank. I wedged a half round of cork between the front and back glass that has made a great basking area, I think. The rest of his tank companions are a handful of flighty red comets, several plastic plants, river rock and shooter marbles( that she loves to roll around) and a few left over decorations from past tank projects. In the front left corner I added a square glass vase that is about 4 inches below water level to allow someplace for her to rest above water without having to get under the lamps.

First up, Frog's selfies- what I am most concerned about is the shell growth( notice that front a back edges flare out a lot and her sides are very downturned and short. and the red patches on the shell above her head.

And here's some photos of my setup. I did not do any special cleaning- so this is how it normally is- however it is due for a water change and a quick scrub. That will happen here in the next few hours.

Thanks everyone for your input, from myself :D AND Frog :msgreen:

Great looking setup! Turtle looks good! May need to cut back on his pellet intake. His shell is showing the saw tooth pattern of too growing too quickly.

I'd cut pellets and treats down as well. Really like the look of the cork too.

Thanks! normally she gets 3-4 pellets/day of Flukers Aquatic Turtle Buffet Blend(from me), probably more when my girlfriend feeds. Ill ween that back and make sure her and I are on the same page again and see if the edges of the start to even out.

Yea, it's hard to ask people to not feed the turtles. Try sorting out the pellets in a new pill box, that way it'll be hard to give them more than their allowance.

Possibly, they show up on my desktop browser. The images are hosted on photobucket, perhaps they are blocked?

I just checked my photo bucket settings. Everything that I could find is set to public, I'm not sure why you can see them Stephanie.
