I don't usually take my turtles out of my tank but today I did and this is what my females shell looks like. Is this normal scute shedding?

This is my map turtle. Looks like he might be getting ready to shed. My concern about my res is the shedding looks a lot different?

I'd definitely cut down on protein/pellets for both. The RES looks to have the "baby scutes" come off already and he whitish marks could be mineral deposits. Similar for the map, those marginals are retained and are usually the last to shed.

The res is more like holes with good shell underneath. Is this due to over feeding? I don't feed them that much but I have large gold fish that I feed sinking food and my turtles might be eating it. Thanks Steve . I don't know much about shell conditions. But I'm trying to learn.

For the RES, I just call them "baby scutes". Those "holes" are nothing to worry about, a couple of good sheds will help smoothen it out.
