i know a blacklight is a UV lamp but would it help a turtle at all? i only ask this because i feel bad leaving the lights off during the night without something for my little baby. just so he can see at night if he wants to without it being like regular daylight and messing up his internal clock.

I think we should avoid using blacklight for turtles, not good for their eyes.

Turtles can manage being in the dark. If you're really worried, then use a
nightlight

think of it this way, chances are your turtle is going to be sleeping... and i know i dont like sleeping with lights of any kind on if i can help it. secondly it would really just be a waste of electricity since becasue of said turtle sleeping and becasue most turtles sleep underwater the light is really just unnescisary.

i guess you could use a moonlight but there is nothing to worry about when turtle is in the dark. most turtles just go to sleep when the lights go out.

okay.....i guess it is kinda a dumb idea if the turtle isn't going to use it and it might hurt his eyes.....okay just figured i'd check before doing anything.

I understand that the "cheap" versions of black light are not true UVB, and can actually be harmful to your turt's eye.

As was already said, RES have pretty good eyesight, and can see just as well as they need at night.

I have a blue colored heat bulb that reflects nighttime that I use, so it provides heat but then it's not completely dark.

your turtle(s) should be sleeping at night, but if you think they need a light, look into a nightlight.

No do not use a backlight on your turtle because they tend to stare at the light and it will damage there eyes ( same with humans)
