That's where we're running into trouble. The water is too warm so he won't bask. I have been dry docking him all day from like 6 am until around 8 pm (when he goes to bed) with the Basking lamp over the dry dock. Granted, I've only just started this with this new tub of ointment but I think it's helping.

Wheat-germ koi pellets? Never heard of those. I shall investigate! Thanks again Steve!

Ok I have done some investigating. How do I know which Wheat-germ to get? Is this good?

i think most people use the Hikari brand (the first link). they replace the usual pellet feedings with the wheat germ one.

Dumbork14 is right, the first one is the most popular. It doesn't replace all other pellets, maybe between 20%-50%. Is the new tub a different brand?

You can do 50-50, I don't there will be any harm to try.

Oh the tub of cream doesn't have a name brand. It's just in a little tub from the vet with her label on it.

Ah ok. Sounds good.

I have an appointment with the vet tomorrow at 4. She is concerned that it hasn't gone away and wants to do a recheck. I purchased the wheat germ pellets last night and I'm going to talk to her about them tomorrow as well, she what she thinks. I'll let you know what happens!

Got back from the vet. Good news! The doctor actually flaked off one of the bigger spots without even really trying. The other spots are flaking off and that they are only on top of the shell and not underneath. They gave me more ointment but I'm to cut back on the use of it (instead of twice a day, go down to once a day, and eventually cut down to only a few days a week). She said to try the wheat germ pellets as we talked about 50/50.

I gave Sheldon a few to try and he broke them up into little pieces and gobbled them up. It looks like we're almost out of the woods. The doctor was very happy which in turn makes me very happy.

I'll hopefully get some good shots tonight. He was a bit traumatized from his vet visit (as per usual, so much touching that he oh so despises) and he needed dinner so I'll get some today when he's in a better mood. lol
