Also, snappers are very expensive in terms of feeding and enclosure size, so you may want to hold off on any big purchases like that. Take advantage of this time to make your other turtle setups as nice and healthy as possible.

What were the temperatures like?

steve wrote:If it were 85F and shade was available, then I don't think it was the lack of water.

steve wrote:Parts of my RES can get as hot as 100F when they are basking (according to my temp gun). I would also lean towards a predator or abuser from the info given.

Kansasslider wrote:Steve, my turtles also get hot while basking but they can get in the water to cool down. I agree with Jeremiah, if it was an attack of some sort I would think there would be more trauma. Turtles should be supervised or protected by a barrier while outdoors. I'm not sure if a turtle would bleed if it died from heat? If the other turtle attacked wouldn't there be bite marks? A person doing this sounds like the least likely scenario. What was the actual temperature when this happened? Where does Sushie live? I'm not trying to point blame just trying to figure this out.

Kansasslider wrote:The high was 90° yesterday if that makes any difference.
