General Care Discussion :: question about a weird colour on my turtles skin

right in between her neck and legs that piece of skin there seems white more then green and black, seems that the greens been bleached out or something, i have a huge filtration system on the tank, never had a problem before and the other turtles seem fine, they just finished off there tank nutralizer off....ph levels, nitrates, and amonia are fine...wasnt sure if it was a problem i should attend to...any ideas would help..thanks

Well a picture would be a great help in seeing if your turtle is fine or not, otehrwise, there can be a multitude of reasons for it. I'm just throwing a ball out in the open, but my quick hypothesis (which can be completely wrong are):

Does it looked ripped, or ragged? Often when turtles are injured and the exterior skin is gone, you see a white interior.

There may be calcium/residue buildup if it looks kind of chunky or you can take it off.

Your turtle may just be shedding if it's really flaky and transparent.

If it looks like an abnormal growth, it may be a bacterial infection.

That's all I could come up with at this moment, by any means it could be anything simple and nothing to worry about, but again, a picture would help, and maybe check out what I said up there.

It is normal to have variations in skin color as the skin goes into the shell (less green & almost white). Those areas of skin don't get exposed to as much sun/UV as the rest of the turtle's skin (kinda like our very own butts that are always covered up!) and the skin has a more delicate texture as well.

calcium sounds right, i had a calcium turtle, tank nutralizer in there, so that would make sence, theres no slime residu on it, i have him in the hospital tank at the moment,

anyone ever try that turtle doctor?

Skip any of those little white turtles, whether they are a water conditioner, treatment or calcium supplement. It could be fungus, and injury or a possible wound. And with other turtles in there, its certainly possible. It this a female turtle and do you have males in there?

theres 2 females, 2years old, and 2 males one 2 years old, and the other about a 1and 1/2there seems to be something hanging off of it, looks like sticky threads stuck together, im bringing her to a vet soon if it doesnt clear up

That sounds like shedding skin, which would be totally normal. CAn you post a pic?
