General Care Discussion :: HEEEELP!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Last night I got home to my turtle not moving. She just opened her eyes and I notice her water was kind of dirty so I washed her container. I've had this turtle for more than 10 years and never noticed anything wrong until we came to Idaho for a visit. She's very lazy, always has her eyes close(they look kind of swollen), she doesn't eat and once in a while she opens her mouth like she's yawning. Earlier i put her on the floor and she was walking fine but no she's back to just sleeping. I read some articles online and seems like she might having a breathing probably. Last night I thought she was dead.

What is your setup like? Were the lights out? Could she have been sleeping? What are the water/basking temperatures?

I had no idea having her in the restroom the whole time without the lights on could affect her I put her there in a long container because my grandma takes care of kids but I've had her there for a while now and until Sunday afternoon I noticed she was to tired and her eyes were purple. Now I have her in the room where there's more light and she's been awake more and actually moves. She ate so that's a good sign of her getting better right?

Eating is a good sign, but I'm not sure if I completely understand how you are caring for her.
