Every time i go to feed my turtle she is SUPER EXCITED. I drop the food in but she doesnt keep her head in the water! She pokes her head out and is like "Wheres the food at!!?" When really i dropped like 10 pellets in! I try to tap her head back in the water, but she just bops it up again! The only way i feed her is hand feeding, but it will be a problem when i am not able to feed her and ask someone. They wont want to hand feed my turtle (atleast i wouldnt think).
Now did i make the mistake of handfeeding my turtle from the beginning? Am i stuck with this habit of her thinking there is no food unless i hand feed her?
It just gets annoying because she goes crazy when i dont give her food (she thinks i didnt) when she is swimming IN the food! :lol:

My turtle does that, I hand feed him as well. I hand feed him two days in a row and then I have a "FInd Your Food for Yourself day" and I just drop his allotment in the water. He does the exact same thing as yours and the food even sticks to his head.. But he is sooooo focused on me he doesn't notice. I just walk away from that tank, and within seconds he notices there is food floating around and snatches it up.. Just walk out of your turtles site and they will find it. I have talked to others who don't hand feed, and their turtles do the exact same thing. They know we are food. So they get all excited when they see us. Just leave your turtle to it and she should be able to find it.. Might take her a bit longer if you have never let her find food in the water. But I am sure she will figure it out..

Yea, I wouldn't have other people hand feed either... it's a bit risky. I'll sometimes bounce the pellets off the glass so they are spread out and a bit more visible. I'll also pull the turtle away and push them under water a little so they can see it but I don't normally have to resort to that. But if they don't see it they'll start splashing water out of the tank :evil:

LOL mine too! Splashes my arm i mean come on little turt i dont need that!
