Dry docking overnight is usually the least stressful way since they will sleep. Dry docking long waking hours is hard. I've found the more room they have, and more places to hide, the better.

I've been trying the first method for the past week and although the white spot hasn't spread, it still hasn't gone away. I'm going to try dry docking overnight like you recommeneded. I feel like this is a dumb question, but while I'm dry docking at night, should I leave the daylight on? I have a red Infrared light that I usually leave on overnight, but I'm not sure if I should leave the daylight on so he can dry dock over night.

No light is necessary, just make sure it's in a relatively warm area (not too warm--around 72F should do).

My lil guy is going through something similar...his shell has been looking weird for a couple weeks now but it hasn't gotten any worse so I'm just waiting it out & making sure it isn't spreading...frustrating not knowing exactly what it is though

Most of it looks like the beginning of scute shedding.

Congrats! That means you're doing things right.
