Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hey guys can you help me check if my terrapins is shedding or is that shell rot? I stay in Singapore and the weather has been very warm lately. Would that affect the shell?

I had actually purchased a bottle of API turtle fix but the situation did not improve. I am going to try using betadine but I would like to have a second opinion first before exposing them to more chemicals.

Also, can anyone recommend their method of applying betadine? I know there are several variations out there. thank you very much!

It looks a bit more like fungus than shell rot, though it's a bit hard to tell from the pictures. If it is fungus, Betadine won't likely work.

Hi Steve, thank you for your quick reply! Any advice on how to remedy the situation? I googled and most people see fungus and shell rot as the same thing.

Short term, shell rot is very serious and should be treated right away. Fungus is more of a nuisance but can cause a lot of problems if not taken care of either. Search the forum for fungus and silver sulfadiazine cream regarding treatment.
