General Care Discussion :: Reproduction question

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have a male RES that's 3yrs old and a female RES that's almost 2. I was wondering around what age they'll start showing sexual intentions to each other? Everything I read says 3-5 yrs for male and 2-3 yrs for females but I was hoping for something more specific...they've lived together since the female was a few months old.

As soon as you can see the male characteristics, he might try to mate. Unfortunately, male RES will have to be separated from other turtles as they get older.
