Okay so I decided to call it Sunny, because it's always basically chasing the sun... Which is weird because I feel if it was older, it would probably fight just to bask in its favorite spot.... I have this turtle figurine as its basking platform in it's temporairly cage...btw, the turtle topper was actually meant for it because I'd figure I'd put it in a 29g with the musk turtles... It doesn't do much other than bask. He/she does eat but doesn't go crazy over it.

What are your water and basking temperatures? Painteds bask a lot as a general rule. They're often nicknamed "Sun Turtles".

Well, that would explain it. Your basking area is about 10 degrees too cold.
