What? I always do 100 percent water changes, and some is evaporated and Iddon't have a good filterand BTW there is no fish and with goldfish its good to do a 100 percent water change because they are messy and so are sliders and aren't slider supposed to be more hardy than fish?
I know a guy whose goldfish are thriving with 100 percent water changes.

If your doing 100% water changes your never letting your tank cycle. Google cycling a tank if you don't believe me. I don't know where your getting your information but its wrong. Trust me! Someone will chime in soon and back me up. I know about what I'm telling you.

I know a lot about cycling my tank and if o googled it a lot of pictures would show up of people riding bikes XD
I have to do 100 percent because I have a horrible filter and I only have time to do it once a week AND I always keep a bucket of tank water handy so iI can put my biological filter media in because that's where the bacteria is rright? And I gently squeeze it out in that water and don't put it back in the tank until the water has been dechlorinated and room temperature (the temperature of the water in the bucket) most of this information comes from national geographic pet Care library's redeared slider care & goldfish care books.

Re: Carbon -- it's one or the other. Add some to the filter or use a carbon filter for water when you do a water change. The only downside I've read on carbon (and I don't think on this forum), is that it can irritate sensitive fish. Remember, carbon is there to remove dissolved contaminants, chloramines, tannins, and odors. This will eliminate the need for bottled water conditioners.

My opinion of cycling.. make sure you preserve your bio media during water changes! Carbon has no effect on ammonia, nitrite or nitrate. I do 100% changes but save the bio media.

Also, what "works" for you or someone else.. does not mean it's the right course of action. Research and ask questions. Learn from our mistakes. Learn from your mistakes. That's how we all progress. I hope that makes sense.

what filter do you have?

I have the same filter as in that picture on this topic- a zoo med 55 gallon sandstone waterfall filter... On a container! and a 30 gallon turtle filter

Doing a 100 % water change is news to me but if it works then who am I to judge. In the fish tank community there is some debate about using carbon at all. Carbon removes things from water. The debate is about whether or not it removes too many good things also. I like using it and will probly continue to do so. Sorry about my strong opinions in my earlier post. And yes you want to keep your bio in tank water during cleaning/water changes.

I do think you are, however you might not have enough because of the small filter. In many cases, we load up as much as possible with bio media.

i think it might be crammed enough, but i have to at least keep it so it still actually runs and i finally caught one little reddish orange worm. it sadly died.

nope, a small white worm. cant ge a goood picyure. they used to be everywhere untill i got my canister.
