General Care Discussion :: Pyramiding going away - now top scute(?) coming off

Bill had some pyramiding going on a couple years ago which is gradually decreasing over time since I've gone to feeding him pellets only 3x per week. Now one of of the top parts of his shell that was pyramiding is lose and seems to be breaking away. There is no fungus or anything. Is this a normal part of the pyramiding going away and his shell smoothing out?

Shedding is normal and healthy. Without prying, can you see what it looks like underneath?

It looks like normal shell underneath. I was just concerned because it's on top. I'm also concerned because he never seems to have shed any scutes.

What's his diet like?

He gets pellets 3x per week and lettuce everyday.

Shedding is the hardest thing to manage but I'll be his other scutes will be ready soon.
