Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

So my turtle seems to be shedding, a lot. It seems to be irritating to her too as she constantly scratches at her skin.
She likes to bask quite a lot, but recently she very rarely goes into the water, sometimes not even to eat.
My theory is that the water somehow irritates her skin further.

Can too much exposure to heat make her shed, the lamp is turned for the better part of the day and sometimes all she does is sit on her stone and bask.

Also I think she has trouble sleeping because of this.
Today I turned the lights off in my room at about 12:30 and I could still hear her scratching from time to time till 3:20 am.

Why is this happening and what should I do?

It's somewhat normal for them to roam around at night. Shedding skin is much more obvious in the water, I can't tell much from the pics. How is her carapace? It looks a bit rough. Have you cleaned it up? Any injuries up there?

The long basking times and (possibly) excess night time activity may indicate that she's gravid. Have you felt for eggs?
