Hi guys. I upgraded from a rubbermaid tub to a 90g aquarium. I have two baby turtles that are ~2 months and less than ~2 inch shell length. About a month ago, I added 5 striped danios while still in the tub. Since upgrading, I added 5 rosy red barb.
The turtles were initially interested in the danios. They chased them around and it was really fun and cute to watch. It was pretty clear that the danios were way too fast for the turtles, and once the turtles realized this, they started ignoring them.
Presently, the turtles ignore all the fish in the tank, I have not seen a turtle make an attempt at a fish or chase a fish. Is this normal for hatchlings of their size? Is this behaviour expected to change?
The two turtles and 10 fish are all very small and I am thinking of adding some more. What are other recommended species that can escape turtles well? Any algae eaters?
Thanks!
