General Care Discussion :: What to feed large qty of RES in park pond

Hello today I went to a pond and saw there were hundreds of turtles in their ponds. It was kind of sad the water is so dirty, we fed them mostly bread and cheerios which they seemed to like. I was wondering if there would be anything better and obviously really cheap to help them out?

I know Mazuri sells stuff in bulk, that would probably be my first choice.
