General Care Discussion :: Proper environment for my turtles mating

My turtles are 22 cm which is female 17 and 17 cm which are male
I have them for 12 years
My water temperature is 27 centigrade degrees and it's permanent i'm using eheim 200 watt and
There are 330 liters of water in my aquarium
I did not use water conditioner because i'm using external filter tetra ex 120
Basking temperature is 32 centigrade degrees my heater lamp is ligthing 11 hours every day
There is a basking platform that is easy to climb on
It was made by 8 mm glass and it's ground was floored by river gravel
There is UVb lamp and it's lighting 4 hours every day

And that's the plan of my new aquarim this aquarium's basking platform will be sand for spawn





But i can't decide which sand i supposed to use or my turtle lay the same point multiple time if i remove the eggs ? And when i remove the eggs what am i supposed to do
Anything you see wrong ?

Welcome to the forum! I'm not sure why you would be interested in your turtles mating but female nesting behavior is very peculiar and can be unpredictable. Have they mated before and has she been gravid before?

I'm not sure if tank space would impact your female's willingness to mate/lay, but I thought it might help to point out that possibility. One mature female RES requires 100-125 gallons (125 being the minimum for a pair), and 330 liters is just a little bit over 87 gallons. The smaller the enclosure, the more stressed your turtles will feel (especially if the male is harassing her).

Also, like Steve, I would not recommend breeding them with the intent to hatch the eggs. While it is necessary to let the female lay her eggs, it would be better to destroy them after she does so. If you want more turtle(s), then there are always unwanted ones up for adoption. Unless you have a very large pond and the money to pay for any surprise vet visits, I wouldn't recommend bringing more RES into your collection.

No,They didn't mate before and normally wasn't gravid before
Actually we also have a forum but in here (Turkey) petshopers are selling us one hilarious cape we called them ölüm fanusu(death of lanterns) i'll add one photo so you can understand the circumstances in Turkey people are thinking turtle's maintenance is easy so we have to recommend minimum 100 liter aquarium for full-grown Res and sometimes they even can't afford this much money but when i explored i saw that wasn't enough



We don't have any other species in Turkey except RES so if i can cause to bring yellow-bellied slider i'll try to mate them because in Turkey they are really populer and they have so much aspirant and i decide to do some pre researches
When i complete my new aquarium there is almost 1000 liters(250gallons) water in there so i will add two yellow-bellied slider
At the beginning of my first writing i have said i have 3 turtles but my 2 turtles fought and i had to to seperate them now my male turtle are living in another tank which is available for 250 liters of water

Many places sell the same object in your picture, the turtle community calls it a "death bowl".

It's possible the females are not interested in that male. You can see that females need a lot of space and that males often need to be separated. This will be the situation with any clutch that is produced... there is a good chance they will not get along.

My turtle has laid eggs before, but I think I was a little lucky too. I had an actual backyard for her to go to, which is usually more favorable for them. Overall, I don't think many of us have breeding experience on this board.
