Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Is it normal for a RES to shed skin? I'm new to this and a worried owner. Around his neck there is some ghostly white clearish loose skin hanging around. Hope this is normal.

Absolutely normal.

Constant shedding would be a concern. For a young turtle, once a month isn't a worry. Ours is nearly two, and I notice shedding every few months.

They will also shed their scutes, but less frequently in my experience.

Shedding is currently happening to my :msgreen:. There's nothing to worry about.

recently moved my male res into an appropriate sized tank, he shed scutes everyday for about ten days is that normal? He wasn't kept in a tank before and I just thought he was playing catch up, now not so sure...

Scutes shouldn't shed that often, are you just meaning various parts?

No, like he did an allover shed twice in those ten days, tried posting pic of the scutes I retrieved from tank, but no go

It may have been from all over, but some scutes are super thin, others really thick

That is a lot, but I wouldn't expect him to keep shedding.
