I have two turtles a 7 year old female and a 6 year old male. I've had them since they were hatchlings and have always taken care of them. They have always lived in filtered heated water. Had a nice basking area. (no UVB until recently, but had sun baths) and since i live in Mexico. Temperature hasn't been much of an issue. Using regular incandescent bulbs plus their heater during winter. They first lived in a 10 gallon tank, later moved to a 20 gallon and currently live in a 65 gallon tank. with basking light and uvb, good filter and a heater. I feed them reptomin every other day and the ocasional treat.
They are very active and curious. They love to swim around, and bask one on top of the other (even thought their basking area is big enough for both) they are very interactive with the environment and like checking out what's going on around them. They seem happy and healthy. But lately doing some reading I found they should be way bigger than they are now. Female 5 inch and male 4 inch. And they don't seem to have grown that much in the last year. I always assumed slow growth was better. Should i worry???
Thanks in advance.
Sofia
